2011 Honda CR-V LX FWD 71k miles. Went on a rough dirt road and I probably hit something and broke down: at first it was making noise but still drove, later I had no gears; engine would just rev. Towed it to a shop and they found the right front axle was broken, and the engine torque rod bushing was gone, so they replaced the axle and the engine torque rod and also the left axle as well because I’m assuming it’s best to repair them in pairs? Idk it’s my mom’s car and she was going to have the mechanic talk to me before approving repairs but she forgot. Either way, after that was done she took it home and I noticed it was still making a noise and vibrating in gear especially in drive (less noticeable in reverse). We’re planning on taking it back Monday. But if you know what that noise could be feel free to post but that’s not my main concern right now. My question is, what exactly is the engine torque rod? I my many years of watching Scotty I’ve never heard of it. Also, in regards to that bushing, is it possible that it just happened to be worn out or is it more likely that I broke it on the bumpy dirt road?
Torque rods are similar to, if not the same as motor mounts. If it's the original part, when they raised the engine to put a new motor mount in, the bushing probably snapped because it's 13 years old now. I would have just done all 3 at once. A broken motor mount will induce vibrations in the car, because there's no bushing isolating the engine from the mounts anymore.
