2oo6 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The engine was just rebuilt and it won't start. Someone dropped a screwdriver down the distributor hole and said it would fall into the oil pan, no worries. I'm worried.
the distributor is connected to the camshaft on a pushrod engine, so I find it highly unlikely the screwdriver would turn into a wet noodle and snake its way down to the oil pan.
So could it stop the car from starting? Or damage?
you know the saying "throwing a wrench in the works". That's what happened.
Do not start the car. You need to remove the screw driver. Hopefully it's not already too late.
Might remove the distributor to see if their is any damage to the dist gear and pump drive. AND peer into the hole and look. Depending on what size the screw driver handle and length of shaft i would not take anyones word on it.....
Long piece of wood dowel or a borescope to confirm its location.
Fish it out with a loop of fishing rod line.
