- Hey I’m having a hard time deciding between a 2016 Hyundai Genesis coupe 3.8 manual with 78k miles for $15k or a 2013 Audi A3 2.0t wagon automatic with 57k miles for $11,500? Which would be more reliable in the long run?
What about a 2015+ Scion tC?
what about 2014+ Acura TLX? my price range for a car is $15k
Neither.
The Hyundai will fall apart and the Audi will be a money pit. I wouldn't recommend either.
For the long run neither are a good choice. The Hyundai is already at 78,000 miles and generally can be OK up to 100,000 miles or so. But don’t expect the reliability beyond 100,000 miles to be on the level of a Toyota/Honda. It will become a money pit. And the Audi will be even more of a money pit out of warranty as time and mileage accumulates on it.
The Scion tC is a much better choice!
As with ANY used car, have a reputed mechanic check it out thoroughly, before you buy it.
Both are horrible, especially both the 2.0T and the Hyundai engine design is horrible. Consider a Lexus or Honda.
Have you watched Scotty's video on a 2.0T Audi? Or researched the fact that Genesis is part of Hyundai Group and their engines never last past 100-120k miles? If you want to pay 15k for a couple years of life left then that's your choice for me I'd run away as fast as I could. For the price you could get a Lexus ES from 2013 or so.
Scotty also has lots of videos on Scions, watch them.

The engine is concern is the Toyota 2AR-FE engine, found in the ES250 and Camry
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_AR_engine#2AR-FE
the automatic transmission was the U760E which is known for problems in the Camry, but honestly a manual transmission is how to go on these vehicles.
You might also want to consider the Honda Civic Coupe, specifically with the naturally aspirated engine, since 2016 is a 2.0 engine, found only on the LX and LX-P trims, which is what I would recommend for reliability purposes, the other engine choice being the 1.5 Turbo found on other trims.
If you want to go European for a wagon, the best I could recommend is the Volvo XC70, though not as reliable as a Toyota, probably the most reliable among the euro competitors.

If you are willing to drive a manual transmission, the Toyota Corolla IM, Corolla hatchback, or Scion IM is also a good choice. If you want more ground clearence, manual transmission Subaru Crosstrek should also be on your list.
Toyota Corolla Hatchback (2021 show, since 2019) older ones are Scion IM, Corolla IM
Subaru Crosstrek (new gen shown)
If you want something more luxurious, 2013 Lexus ES would be around 15k

I really can’t recommend either of those.
If I had to choose between the two, I’d probably go with the Hyundai because it is a manual non turbo. But I would seriously consider other cars before I even touching these either of these.
get a honda civic coup
These are 3 different cars. In terms of reliability, neither are the absolute best.
The genesis seems priced a little bit high and with a little coupe sporty style car like that, pretty sure it got driven hard.
The Audi is an automatic luxury wagon, totally different experience. Expensive in parts.
The Scion tC is basically a rebadged toyota with a maybe cheaper interior. More reliable, but not that fast at all.
It depends what you are looking for and others already answered with details your question so I'll say it simple: if you want fun, GET A MANUAL.
