hey scotty, why does every car i ever owned end up with front wheel bearing noise? i dont hit curbs, i dont off road or drive rough. i dont get it, what gives?
cars currently owned: 2012 nissan leaf sl, 2007 nissan sentra 2.0 cvt
cars used to own x2 1991 ford escort lx, 1995 and 97 dodge neon, 2005 chevy cobalt
Wheel bearings are subject to a lot of stress and will wear out like anything mechanical. None of the vehicles you mentioned are known for durability.

These are all budget cars that are over 15 years old:

Bearings weren't meant to last that long. They are consumable components. They get worn out and you replace them, like brake pads and shocks.
I do you have potholes where you live? Unless you're driving on the Interstate all the time, and down south, wheel bearings are consumable and they wear out over time. Even if where weren't potholes, you have a tolerance factor based on how any revolutions a tire makes. It's probably hundreds of millions of revolutions, but they all eventually wear out. Friction doesn't go completely away, lubrication delays things, it doesn't go completely away. Hitting potholes just wears wheel bearings out quicker.
