I plan to replace the right front wheel bearing on my 2000 Toyota Camry (non-ABS), and it has press-in style wheel bearings. The kit came with a new hub, so I'm replacing that, as well. I'm a bit nervous as I've never done a wheel bearing before.
Is it possible to press the bearing onto the hub and then press on the hub and bearing together as one unit? I'm worried that I'll damage the bearing while pressing the hub on.
see if you can buy hubs with the bearings already installed
Unfortunately, I have searched for that exact thing on multiple websites, and they are not available, at least for my model. I already have the hub and bearing, but they are separate.
When you do it this way, do you still have to press in the bearing to the joint? Or does it just attaché?
the hub just bolts on
Easiest solution!!:
Remove your steering knuckle, with the old hub and bearing still in tact. Take your new hub, bearing and knuckle to a machine shop and have them press out old hub and bearing then have them press on the new hub and bearing. Then take your knuckle with new hub and bearing and re install on your car 😀 😀. That will save you 4 hours of you trying to fight pressing out and in new bearings.
