Hi Scotty,
Bought a brand new 2020 Honda CR-V FWD turbo just shy of 11000 freeway miles. (against your better judgement). It's having check engine codes left and right, even being seven months old! found out that in the American market dealers purchase them assembled in three different places: Indiana, Canada, and Indonesia. I bought one in Indonesia. Might this be why it is having so many problems? which area would assemble the best? Thank you
What are the codes for?
Yes it does matter where they put together in the Indonesian ones are not as well made
Scotty,
Thank you for responding. it is very frustrating considering my family has been buying Honda's since 1980. But you were right again in that manufacturers rely on "planned obsolescence." Thanks for telling the truth!
Lol.
Our Honda 2018 HRV engine is made in Japan 👍.
The CVT transmission is made in Indonesia 😧 .
And the car is assembled in Mexico😳.
Low miles, but so far not a single glitch or recall 🧐 .
Similar situation in Europe. I do not trust Turkish Corolla or Auris. So I got the British one.
Nothing is as it seems. Every company hides behind lies and deceptions to make sales seem more qualified than they really are. I bet the only thing really made in The USA is MyPillow and even that is with foreign materials.
I think US customs are very particular about country of origin declarations. Falsifying this probably carries very stiff penalties since there are millions or billions of dollars of tariffs involved.
Many items are not really falsified but they just lie by omission. The Wife's candy says "distributed by" some company in some American city. They do not say "Made In Mexico". Lie by omission. Like a Ford is thought of as American but it has percentages of foreign parts. Even some parts that are thought to be American are imported, my opinion.
Americans are mushrooms.
it's illegal candy. Report it.
"Repackers are required by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to mark containers of repackaged imports with the English name of the country of origin."

Maybe the original box of candy was labelled but not each individual wrapper.
They do not repack. It is just the manufacturer opening a distributor to sell their products with an American front address. Like the American car "makers" importing parts to make a car that is presented as American made. Even Toyota assembly plants are allowed to by-pass the Made In America by assembling parts from around the world with American labor. The foreign auto industry pay a fine to act as Americans when they are not.
aren't the individual parts labelled where they came from?
No. And if they were would you inspect a motor to see what the crank comes from? Or drop a wheel to see brke pads. When Ford says they have a certain percentage of American parts they do not list where the non-American parts come from. At best it is all a guess
yeah .... that's very misleading.
Not so misleading as it is telling lies. Lies by deception. Lies by omission. And they walk away from the truth. That is what gives mechanics job security. Enjoy!
