- So theres two cars im interested in buying. One is a 2009 toyotta camry le with 75,000 at $10,000. The other is a 2009 honda accord lxp with 120,000 at $8000. The accord is at a honda dealership, the camry is at a toyotta dealership. Both are single owner car with no accident history on the car fax both are automatic. im going to be using this car to uber. Which car do you think is a better choice.
Find out if the Camry oil burning issue has been resolved. The 4 cylinder engine (2007-2009) has that issue unless it has been fixed under warranty at Toyota dealership, so they should have paperwork for the repair. I would not consider the 2009 Accord the engine issues.
I looked over the car fax and did not notice any oil burning issue fixed under warrenty, and the car fax seemed pretty detailed, looks like they brought the car to same dealership for all maintence. Would you stay away from this car if that issue was not fixed???? Also thank you for taking the time to answer my question
You can call up the Toyota dealer and ask them if it has been fixed or not. Any Toyota dealer can tell you that by providing the VIN number. It might not be an oil burner but these 4 cylinder engines have a tendency to burn oil because of faulty oil piston rings. I would not risk buying it if it has not been fixed since this issue might show up later when you put mileage on the car. Also, the price is a bit high for that car.
If it isn't burning oil, I'd go Camry.
Personally I would just stay away from any 2007-2009 Camry period, even if it was supposedly fixed under the recall (unless you get it from a trusted family member/ friend and you really know this car). Go 2010 and up to be safe imo
Neither one from a dealership.
Is a used car lot a better choice than dealership????
Same thing.
To find out if it is burning oil look at the exhaust pipe, if it has black residue it is burning oil. ; )
I would buy neither but if the Camry's engine was fixed after the oil burning issue, go with the Camry, but even without the oil burning issue, they have had their fair share of issues as well, I would go for an upper-year or older Camry, 2007-2011 doesn't really do it compared to other generations of the Camry.
