[Solved] Which Ford Maverick Engine (2024 or 2025)?

Topic starter

I am considering leasing a 2024 or 2025 Ford Maverick front wheel drive.

I know, I know, recalls, low quality, leaks etc but I might lease instead of buy so I can turn the thing back in when the parts fall off.

Learned experts;

Which one of the following tree (questionable) engine choices would be least likely to fail:

A. 2.0L EcoBoost®

B. 2.5L Hybrid

C. 2.0L I-4 EcoBoost

If you're going to lease it probably doesn't matter. Although Ford's Ecoboost engines have a pretty awful reputation they probably won't fail during the term of a typical lease.

This is the same engine. There are only two options.

Get the hybrid so you at least save money on fuel.

It's kind of a silly vehicle. A grocery-getter in truck form, that can't tow anything. You would probably be better served by an SUV that at least keeps your contents dry and seats more people.

@imperator thanks

My step dad loves his Maverick. I deride it, personally. It's not a truck. I had a compact truck, an old Ford Ranger, and it could tow up to 5,000 pounds. The Maverick, when equipped with the "tow package" can only tow a maximum of 4,000 pounds. It's built on the same platform as the Bronco Sport. The Bronco Sport is a unibody, not a body-on-frame vehicle. Both are Hencho en Mexico.

So far, the Maverick has been spared the ridiculous recall for faulty fuel injectors that occured with the Bronco Sport. That's about the only plus. Rather than replacing those injectors, Ford issued the recall to put some software in that detects fuel leaks. It's like the Ford Pinto controversy all over again.

Ford quality is outrageously shoddy, and this comes from a guy whose cars have been predominantly Fords.
