Hey Scotty!

Greatings from the central valley of California!

I am looking to buy a used Tundra and I am in picking between 2. A 2012 SR5 Tundra with the 4.6 L V8 with 202k miles or a 2011 Tundra with the 5.7 V8 with 230k miles.

Both are clean title cars. I want to have easier repairs and cheaper pairs. Which do I choose?

There really isn't much difference in repairs and parts cost between them.

I'd go with the 5.7 V8 if it were me. Better power and towing ability.

Both are interference engines with timing chains. Can't go wrong with either one.

I’d personally go with the 5.7L V8, esp. for towing.  Also, looks like the Tundra V8s came with a towing package, which includes tow hitch receiver, trail brake controller, 4.3 rear axle ratio, transmission fluid temp gauge, supplemental transmission cooler, engine oil cooler, and heavy-duty alternator and battery.  Check to see if that package is included - it’s well worth it.
