Whirring noise - hard on gas 2014 F150 EcoBoost

Hi Scotty - I love the videos - informative and entertaining!

I have a 2014 F150 EcoBoost 4x4 automatic with 89,000 miles that has a whirring noise when I step on the gas, typically when I get up to 30 mph or so, pulling into traffic or stepping on the gas to pass on the highway, then disappears until the next time I step on the gas. When sitting in park and revving the engine, there is no noise, quite as can be.

It sounds like its coming from the passenger side, closer to the firewall roughly behind the glove box. I can't find anything obvious inside the truck or inside the engine compartment and its driving me crazy (albeit, I don't know what to look for). I'm attaching a link to a voice recording of the noise which comes in at about the 10 second mark: https://www.icloud.com/iclouddrive/0vL_UVm5_SyzXK8QAyVZXfB0Q#Whirring_noise . I'm hoping you can identify it or point me in the right direction.

I recently had an oil change and state inspection so I had a mechanic look at it as I was concerned it was turbo related. He tested it and no boost loss or unusual turbo noise and was thinking it could be something behind the firewall. Its frustrating as otherwise the truck drives completely fine.

Any help is much appreciated...

Thanks,

Chris

@mountainmanjoe and @inthrustwetrust thanks for your suggestions, they are helpful. When I had it at the shop, they didn't think it was a wheel bearing, they thought the sound was somewhere between the firewall and panel. Short of something falling in between and rattling around, can you think of anything that might lead to that noise?

blower motor

Yup, I agree with @mountainmanjoe
