What to buy to replace totalled car?

Wife’s car totaled, ~$13,500 returned. Narrowed down to Camry/Accord/Mazda 6 or Rav4/CR-V/CX-5. Metro Detroit.

Car market’s still ridiculous, just need help deciding. Know Toyota/Honda are virtually bulletproof, but have heard good things from Mazda.

Also, at these inflated prices, is used still the way to go? How to gauge?

In search of something that’ll last 200k+ & can hold 2, maybe 3, car seats in the back comfortably. Also able to put more $ down than just the $13,500, potentially up to $20k.

Was the totaled a sedan or Midsize SUV? I own a 2021 Camry and my brother owns a 2016 Accord. I test drove a Mazda CX6 before, too. I don't think you can comfortably fit 3 car seats in the back. You mentioned you needed the car to last 200,000+ miles. By that time, the kids will have been grown. I'd suggest getting a RAV4 or a CR-V.

Totaled sedan. ‘15 Ford Fusion w/ the turbo, 90k miles. Couldn’t believe they gave us this much. Blessing in disguise.

If you are dealing with car seats, IMHO, it is easier to manage them with an SUV crossover than a sedan. Unless you want a good workout of bending in and out of a car.

CX5 might be too small.

I much prefer the CRV overall in design, internal and out. But the RAV4 gives the best bang for your buck, because you are getting the guts of a Camry, whereas the CRV is the guts of a Civic. Nothing wrong with either, just an interesting tidbit.
