Hey Scotty
i own a 2014 Hyundai veloster turbo with 108000 miles and a dct tranny
when driving in the city i get 28mpg, but on the highway at 80mph im getting barely 25, where i used to get 30+
i want to sell the car but gas milage is important, so what could be the cause of this worse gas milage on the highway?
What maintenance has been done on the car? Easy things to achieve better gas mileage are things like a new air filter, clean MAF sensor, properly inflated tires, a new pcv valve if you have one, up to date lubricating fluids in the transmission and differential, new spark plugs, engine oil and filter change, etc. Lubricants operating at peak efficiency reduce friction and increase miles per gallon.
I'd stick to 55-65mph instead of putting that turbocharged briggs & stratton through its paces.
Also avoid cruise control, it wastes gas especially if you're dealing with fluctuations in road grade. Rather than gradually increasing throttle it just stabs it.
Hate that sudden burst of acceleration for a docile incline.
Exactly, only time I really use it is on the highways known for high amounts of staties lurking in unmarked units waiting to pull you over for a 2mph deviation.
That way I can keep my eye on the road instead of the speedo.
