Im currently looking good old 4x4 cars and found an automatic kia sportage 1999 with roughly 200k miles is it a good or should I look for a new option
Good old 4x4 cars and 1999 Kia Sportage in the same sentence, is an oxymoron.
What are you really after? A capable 4x4 or a 23yr old clunker?

If you really want something that old you'd be a lot better off getting one of these with the 4.0 inline six and Aisin-Warner (Toyota) automatic transmission. You'll still be dealing with "old car" type issues but unlike the Kia at least it has a fighting chance and there is tons of support for it out there:
A 22 year old Kia with over 200,000 miles - pass on it. Even if it was a Toyota, I would be hesitant to buy it with those stats.
It’s based on a Mazda with a Mazda engine. But still..
@inthrustwetrust what a cool fact!
Uhhh hell no. Kias from the 90s were absolute crap, I would look at an old Jeep Cherokee or an Old Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav4, or Nissan X-Terra from that era. Much better-made vehicles than the Kia Sportage.
love the answers...best of luck!!!
