Dear Community (or Scotty).
I need your help in this topic...Ive always liked and wanted a Camaro from the 5th gen (2010-2015). I also like the Ford Mustang of the same generation (2005-2014) but not as much as the Camaro. That being said I have the chance of getting one of these soon... One is 2014 mustang with 52k miles and has the famous 3.7 v6 cyclone engine which ive read in this forum that is very reliable and will be the pick to go, and then theres a friend of mine selling his 2013 Camaro v8 with 40k miles(ill have a mechanic check any of these). Ive read that GM cars are just pieces of junk, and engines are just trash and have electrical problems and become money pits, but I really want to have a Camaro from this gen, just for some time. If you HAD to choose 1 Camaro model from the 5th Gen which one will you choose(most reliable)..? (Scotty mentioned in one of his videos 2013 were fairly reliable, but i will like to know your opinion as well)
Thanks!
Really, it depends on what you want to do with it. Do you want to garage-honey it and drive it like twice a month? Sure, get the V8 Camaro if you want. A coworker has a 2012 Camaro SS that I see him drive once a month or so. If you want it to daily drive, the Mustang is the better car. Also, the V6 is going to be less ragged on, for the most part. It will also get better gas mileage if you don't drive it like your hair is on fire. How many of the Camaro's 40k miles have been close to red line, or at least high revving, rapid accelerations? Generally, low mileage cars like that were someone's toy, not a DD, so they drive the heck out of them.
You know what i never thought that a car with low mileage could have been a toy for others.. Tbh honest i want this to be my daily. Ive been friends with this guy for some years and he doesnt push his cars to the limits, he is conservative about that, only reason he is selling it is to get the one.. Maybe under this conditions could be a good option?
If you want the Camero that bad, I say go for it!!! You already kinda know what to expect. It’s not going to be as low cost maintenance and repair as a Toyota. But the Camero is a fun car.
I’m not a big GM fan myself for longevity, at the same time, they make some fun cars. I got to drive a Camero recently, on hilly roads. It was fun.

Automagic or manual?
What are your goals with whatever car you purchase?
Is automatic, and it will be my daily drive, what you think?
Scroll to through to find where it talks about the LS3 & L99 engines. The automatic has AFM, which is not recommended imo. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_LS-based_small-block_engine#L99
Also, having a 6.2L monster of a V8 will kill fuel economy for a daily. I dialed a V6 Camaro for years. Wasn't super fast and didn't sound as good. But still looked good and kept it clean, got great MPG. Id get the V6 Mustang in your case.
If it were a manual Camaro id say go for it. It will hold more value, be more reliable, and way better driving experience.
ill check these, thanks a lot nta98!
