| Unfortunately at that age and mileage it's likely to crater on you in the near future. | |||||

| I just got my first car. 2002 ford escape XLT with the 3.0 duratec and 4WD. It's at 220k miles and has done fine. No misfires, engine codes, nothing showing signs of worry. I know these had problems with transmissions going out, my grandma had an 06 and went through two, but the transmission is still smooth and normal. Is there anything i should be aware of in the future? | |||||

| I would suggest an older Honda Ridgeline. They are cheap and very reliable mid-size trucks with lots of room for kids, and 4wd. You can easily find one for under 10k CAD.. most of them are around 6k. They also ride a lot better than most other trucks. My uncle has one with over 300,000 km (I'm in Canada as well) and he says it rides like new, no problems. Try to get one with the 6 speed transmission, they are supposed to be more reliable than the 9 speed.. I'm not sure if that's true or not.. just what I've heard. | |||||

| If it had been running and driven all this time, that’s one thing. But based upon what you said, forget about it! | |||||

| Those Essex V6s run forever, but your insurance will be sky high if you're only 17. That Mustang is older than you are, and it's been sitting for 11 years. God knows what could be wrong with it. A friend of mine had an Essex V6 in his 2003 Mustang that he bought in 2008. He had at least 220k miles when he crashed it. He would have gone further if there weren't ice on the road that day. | |||||

| If you know it is a project car, and you are getting it for next to nothing, it might be a fun little project. But if you need a reliable daily driver, you might want to look elsewhere. A car sitting for 10 years is going to need a lot of work. And I’m not necessarily against all the work that needs to be done. You just have to know what you are getting yourself into and what you are committing to. | |||||

| They're ok cars but just realize for a vehicle sitting for decade all the fluids (Oil, gas, coolant etc.) need to flush out and put fresh ones. Rubber hoses may be deteriorated. | |||||
