| I have the opportunity to buy a dodge Durango with 143,000 Miles for $1500. Normally I'm not a fan of dodge but I feel like an older dodge is a safer bet than the newer dodge. Anyways the vehicle is in immaculate condition they obviously took care of it and if you were to see it you would see it looks like brand new inside and out. Do you think $1500 is a good price for the vehicle? Honestly I'm just trying to flip it. | |||||

| I have question I know dodge and chev make cars for our law enforcement do you think they make them more reliable then there regular cars ? I remember Scotty once said Chev made good reliable commercial cars so was just curious. I think he was tslk about Chev 2500 commercial Police use dodge charger dodge Durango Chev Tahoe I know in some states they use Ford but my main focus is on dodge and chev what yall think ? | No and no and no and no. i have a hybrid so let me tell you, Rule #1- drive at 25 miles and hour slowly, then if you need to speed it up, slowly increase to 35 and keep your driving habits like that. Rule #2, replace your PVC valve, mines was stuck closed, after i replaced it, i went from 24 to 38 mpg, and thats even after having replaced a lot of parts that I "thought would help", # Rule number 3 - charger your hybrid battery with a grid charger and DO NOT buy a "new battery wich in reality they dont make them new they actually rebuil the used ones and will only last you 4 years strong after that youre back to square 1. and buy your grid charger from maxx volts . com , they are design specific to your battery, no cheap chinese crap, they are the real deal, this is around 300 bucks, save money bro. Rule #5!!!- stop putting that cheap gas, i put in my life avout 120,000 car miles, i know good gas when i drive it, right now how things are because of covid you will not get good gas mixtures!! they will give you more ethanol than gasoline! noooo!! i been using chevron and so far it has given me the perfect fuel mixture and last me 3 times longer than all the other cheap crap, so keep an eye to see wich is the best one for your car, every car is different but for me in my 2008 honda civic hybrid 4 cylinders i found chevron to be the best in performance and miles per gallon | |||||

| I have considered, largely out of curiosity, if it is feasible to hook a hidden fence charger to the frame of the vehicle. In my case this would be a Ford Excursion. IF I unhooked the battery cables, and connected a fence charger hot wire to the frame and grounded the charger to the ground (within 3 feet of the car) would this put the car's electronics at risk? The other option might be to place a grounding pad/conductor beneath the car. In theory, this should result in a good jolt to the person doing the dirty work...although wearing gloves might make it ineffective. I would plan on combining this with a motion sensor on each side of the car and under the frame stratetically placed.. to set off an alarm to the inside of my house...and/or my phone. | Hi Scottie and everybody, I have a 2010 Town Car V8 4.6L with 110,000 miles. Yesterday while I was driving, the battery light went on, so I rushed my home and checked the battery and alternator. I found that the battery is fine, but the alternator does not work (I get 12V whether the engine is on or off). I have made sure all the connections are clean and tight, and that there is not any blown fuses. I did not have a chance to check the alternator as the car shut off completely. When I tried to jump start the car, it runs for 20sec and shut off, so I assume I have a bad alternator (I even smacked it a bit with a hammer, but nothing happened). My 2 questions are: 1) Is it OK to buy aftermarket alternators? I found one for 100 Canadian dollars which has no warranty, and an ACDelco one that costs double with 2 years warranty. The OEM one costs more than 400 CAD and I could only find refurbished. Is it worth buying the cheaper one? the brand name is Premier Gear. Or should I buy a better quality one? what are good aftermarket manufactures of alternators? 2) After this incident, I would like to buy a battery charger (in addition to my booster), so I can at least move my car around until I fix the alternator. Any suggestion on a good cheap car battery charger? If you think that I missed something or misdiagnosed something, please let me know. No my car just seats there until I replace the alternator, or charge the battery with a charger. Thank you very much! | |||||

| Hi Scotty, I usually hear about the low maintenance cost of electric cars (which is quite true as you don't deal with oil and filter change), but I rarely had heard about the possible repair costs (other than the battery degradation). I had bought a 2012 leaf in 2017 for about $15k (in Sweden), which was working fine and I did not had any complaints until suddenly its on-board charger (that charges the DC high voltage battery from AC (120-220V) power) died. Nissan cited a price of $3000 just for the on-board charger and as its replacement needs removal of back seats and removing the cooling lines from under the car, I assume the total repair cost would approach $5000 (I did not get a citation for it however). I tried to buy it from breaking yards and even though there are many Leaf recyclers in Sweden and particularly Norway, there was no available parts (just recently there is one for $1000). Eventually I sourced one from Lithuania (probably from an imported US donor car) for $500 and replaced it myself, which was one of the most difficult DIY projects that I have done so far. Considering that Nissan updated the design of the OBC from 2010-2012 several times and finally completely changed the OBC design from 2013 and also as this part is so rare/expensive on second hand market, I think we can say that it has some design short-coming rather than a failure due to bad maintenance; but Nissan has not bothered to take the responsibility, even though a similar charger problems on Mitsubishi i-MIEV is covered (to my knowledge) by Mitsubishi. The only nice thing from Nissan was that the part was not locked into the car's computer so I could replace it with a unit from an older car. I am however afraid that car companies can and may do so in future cars. Leaf was my most expensive car, with 25000 km on clock when I bought it and about 50000 km on ODO now, and I think similar cars are worth $9000 on the market now. It is frustrating to see that a repair could cost half of the car's price. I think you have talked about the problems in Toyota Prius but maybe you can also mention these problems with electric cars that rarely other people talk about. | |||||

| See below: Be sure to stay on top of the maintenance especially the engine oil (every 5,000 miles) and transmission fluid (drain and fill along with filter, if applicable, every 40,000 miles). Don’t drive it like a maniac and stick to highway mileage as much as possible (less wear and tear on the powertrain), and pray a lot. | |||||

| I bought an 07 hybrid. I buy & sell cars but this was an accidental purchase not knowing it was hybrid. The small 12v battery was dead so we replaced it. Every electrical mechanic we try working with is afraid of messing with it or automatically tell us the price is going to be ridiculously high. After replacing the battery, the info on the dash turned on but it sais check hybrid system. We were told we need to charge the large hybrid battery to see if that would help but we don't know what battery charger is needed since Toyota dealership told us that year does not carry a charger. {black}:serious: We look online & find some plugs but it doesn't match the fuse looking plug charger we have on the car. The guy that helped us (not a mechanic) told us it might be the inverter box that isn't communicating with the car but that might be due to a dead hybrid battery. Any pointers on where to start looking?? | |||||

| I have a 2016 vw gti I got new with original oem AGM battery. car will be 5 years old in april 2021. (not sure when battery made, havent pulled it to see date code) -took vacation for 1 month, come home, slow start, but it works -drive 45 miles, stop at autozone, tester says 50% charged, go home and charge to 100% then come back to test -i drove to some stores, then home, then put digital battery charger on at 3amps set to AGM, charger said 77% when i started -3 hours later at 100%, leave it on 3amp all nite -next morning still reads 100%, i check voltage, 12.83 volts, i drive 45 miles and stop at autozone again -same guy, same test machine, says BAD BATTERY and charge at 83%, hmm..only 83% after starting morning with 100% and driving 45 miles? -guy has me start car and his tester says my starter is FINE -guy runs test on alternator...not putting full amps to battery..says HMM.....might be alternator or battery bad and alternator is 'smart' and wont give battery more. -guy says START WITH NEW AGM battery, then test alternator next -go home charge to 100% again, battery voltage 12.83 volts with charger removed...NEXT MORNING check voltage and its 12.3volts and all the car did was sit all nite scotty says???? thanks scotty! | |||||

| Hi everyone, I have been shopping used RV's Campers etc to take out on extended travels. So now I'm looking at a 1992 dodge Camper Class B Camper Van / Motorhome. Built on a dodge Frame. Being a Class B, its a van with RV built into it. Its 20 ft long. It has what I'd like in it. My concern is about the Engine, Trans year etc. Chrysler, dodge have history of "quality" well known. | I would not recommend a dodge Dakota instead if you want to get a dodge truck look at the 2500 and 3500 diesels. the 5.9 Cummins diesel is a great engine and can last forever however if you want to get a car look at a v6 dodge charger with under 80k miles and that could be a fun car if you have a mechanic check it out before you buy it. | |||||

| I know ur thoughts about the dodge magnum but here goes lol. 2006 dodge magnum 2.7l 110,000 miles and im owner #2. It was my Nanas car and its had mobil 1 since new every 3000 miles until i got it 2yrs ago and due to its age and the crappy motor i have changed it every 2. I rebuilt a 390fe with a big cam and have a 4speed toploader on it. Now im either goin to use that setup when the motor and/or transmission fails i was gonna throw that in,switch from carb to holley efi,and rock on BUT i dont know much about the rearend on these vehicles.
