Ok so let me be as informative as possible in my situation.
I have a 2000 Mercedes ML320.
My issue lately is that I have a parasitic battery drain. I tested every fuse with my multimeter and I finally found where the drain was coming from and it was fuse #13 (Diagnostics/ steering angle sensor) which was located under the engine hood.
This checks out because I tried to connect my OBD2 scanner and it powers on but won’t establish a link with the DLC. Also I took the car to get a smog check and it fails due to not being able to connect to the OBD2.
note that I’ve changed all battery related components in the car such as battery, alternator, starter, spark plugs, coils, and wires and the car still dies after it sits for 2 days.
Now I’m stuck and don’t know what to do or what to fix. I need advice on what to do next. I want to save money and not have to spend a fortune at the dealership on a car that’s 21 years old now. Like what would cause the car to drain? Do I need to change out the obd2 port? Please help.
For the OBDII issue, check the pins and the connecting wires and make sure you have Power there. If all check out, then you might have issues with the car computer. You can take the car to a good independent Mercedes mechanic to further diagnosis. In the worst case scenario, you may end up going to the dealer for diagnosis.
