03 Camry no overdrive and high rpm

Hi, I have a 2003 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder with the 4 speed auto. It has about 140,000 miles on it. I bought it used and when I am going about 70 mph the rpms are at about 4000. I had a speed sensor code p0793 and replaced the speed sensor. The code hasn’t come back but I still have the same issue. Also the overdrive light is not on in the dash so it’s not just switched off. What could this be?

thanks in advanced for the suggestions

Do you have an overdrive on off switch? Some models didn’t come with one. If so hit it verify the light on the dash is working. Also on the transmission if you have a switch there is also a small 2-4 pin connector for overdrive. If it’s lose or unplugged , bad connection it will turn overdrive off and not illuminate the light. I believe on your car it shares the same plug as the speed sensor on the tranny but not 100% sure. Been awhile since I worked on one. I’ll look it up in the am for ya.

I think this is right for your year. The solenoid cables go in by the throttle shiftdown cable. And actually plug in inside. You’ll have to pull the pan to check. If it’s connected it’s very easy change the shift solenoid if you feel comfortable doing so. Lemme know if this doesn’t look right I’ll search again.
