Hey Scotty, I recently just bought a 2011 Honda Ridgeline. It has 73,000 miles on it. I’ve been doing some research on the 3.5 v6 engine and I’ve read where it has a timing belt. Obviously I don’t want it to break as that would more than likely ruin the engine. What do you suggest I do regarding the timing belt maintenance for the truck since it is a 10 year old vehicle and I’m not sure if the belt has been replaced or not?
I’m not sure of this is available on the Ridgeline. On my Accord, there is a little cover that covers the top of the timing belt, where it is connected to the gear of the camshaft. It’s relatively simple to remove, and you can inspect status of the belt.
If no cracking, no need to change just yet, IMHO.
If there is a bunch of cracking, change it ASAP.
I would change it out anyway, just for my own peace of mind.
