I have a ‘17 Camry Hybrid with 77000kms (48k miles). I’m noticing a shudder/vibration when the engine is running, it is inconsistent. But, more noticeable when engine is cold at idle. I have noticed it at highway speeds too. Car doesn’t have to be in Drive for it to happen.
Looking for a DIY solution, and diagnostic steps, unless covered by power train warranty.
Thank you for your help!
Scan it and see what codes come up to get started with the diagnosis.
@doc, No codes
If it's under warranty, take it back to the dealer, and good luck with that.
Is it misfiring or vibrating? Can you feel it in the steering wheel or the entire chassis, seats, dashboard, etc?
@inthrustwetrust, Maybe misfiring. No lights on dash.
It is most noticeable when the car has just started and I’m not moving. And it’s not intense.
I’m worried about taking it to the dealer because it’s intermittent.
Start simple by checking for any loose vacuum hoses. Ideally though, try to make a YouTube video, if able, when it starts vibrating again. It will help as evidence to build your case for any warranty claim, in future.
It should be under warranty, but watch Scotty's video on dealerships. They seem to just swap out parts and not diagnose the issue through troubleshooting. Make sure to get them to lend you a vehicle if you do take it in.
