17 f150 5.0 V8 with 138,000miles. Over the last two weeks, its been cranking longer and hard to start but drives fine. It mainly acts up when the motors cold. Sounds like an old Carbureted car on a cold morning. Finally got it into the Ford dealer. They say it's dumping extra fuel on start up because the truck is a FLEX FUEL and it thinks its running on E 60 gasoline, that's what they say. I dont use E 85 only regular 87. They still haven't figured it out. Just curious on your thoughts thanks.
Well unfortunately for you those flex fuel vehicles are extremely complex and if the vehicle does what they say think it's running on a higher percentage of ethanol then that will have to be set right. And it is a very complex system involving air fuel ratio, sensors and all kinds of computer software that allows it to run correctly on anything from 10% to 85% ethanol. I would say have a good mechanic concentrate on the ethanol measuring sensor first. It could be that's the only thing that's bad
