Hi, I recently purchased a 1990 toyota camry with 93k miles from my friend for less then the price of a moped. Its my first car. After getting it back home I had my local mechanic go through it. Its in pretty decent condition expect it needed new tires, tie rod and a few other odds and ends. Now when I drive it, the front drivers side dips pretty far when i go over a bump or pothole. Most of the time at low speeds its not a big deal but when Im on a major road where the speed is a little higher, sometimes I can hear something scrape. I figure it being a 31 y/o car and the struts look like they've been replaced at least once in its life, they may need another replacement.
When I look for struts from rock auto, all i see are the struts them selves but not the coil springs. Is it okay to use the coil springs from the struts that are already in it or should I replace those as well as the struts? Thanks.
It's a 30 year old car. Change the struts and see how it rides. I would avoid plugging too much money into it.
