Get it inspected, but I say if there is minimal rust and the price is right, go for it.

I have an E-350 and I love it - but make sure it isn't rusting badly.

Thanks

Yes, the Econoline is the best cargo van ever made. Ford never should have discontinued it, although I think they still make the cutaway and bare chassis versions.

Thanks for the information

A 28 year old vehicle, why?

Hello I am trying to get my grandfathers old ford conversion van going again and the back of the frame is rusty.

Can it be cleaned up or fixed?

Not me personally 28 year old Ford van I would not give more than 500 bucks but no one will give one that cheap so I can not recommend it. Who knows what stuff is (and will go) wrong with it.

don't be silly. The reason you don't see them for $500 is the scrap material value is worth more than that.

You clearly have never owned a beater truck 😉
Those vans were built solidly for WORK...
In the real world, people drive 'shootbox' trucks because they want a truck - the exhaust may fall off, the interior may be in shreds - the interior might sound like a maraca, but at the end of the day, the build quality was there from the beginning.
Most rural young men start with a beater pickup. The Eco isn't a pickup, but it's a truck. It's how we roll.
Sure things will go wrong. You learn to fix it. It's all part of the fun.

he's never owned anything , but he loves telling people what to buy.

Fair enough
