Transmission slipping 4l60e?

Hi scotty I've been having this problem for months. My suburbans rpms get stuck at 3,000 rpm for a moment I can raise it to 4,500rpm but my truck doesn't go any faster usually between 40-50mph this only happens when I push the gas pedal quickly to 3/4 to the floor and my rpms raise to 3,000 I can feel the truck lurch at first like it wants to go quick but then this problem happens. The only way I've solved it is pulling over and restarting the truck. However if I speed up gradually I can go as fast as I want with no problems. 1997 Chevy suburban 5.7 vortec k1500, 4l60e transmission 248,542 on engine 274,786 on transmission -Garrett palmer texas

It probably needs a rebuild.

If you're near Amarillo then go visit Precision Transmission.
