2003 Pontiac Vibe with 157,000 miles Have replaced the break pads and passenger side caliper. just replaced the spark plugs, ECCP ignition coils purchased on Amazon. July 2021 all new tires, August 2021 $1200 struts and balance. Oil and air filter.
The drivers side window suddenly busted out while driving in July 2021. That was scary and a hassle to deal with. When it was fixed they left pieces of glass inside of the door.
Use high mileage synthetic oil.
Purchased at the beginning of 2018 with about 116,000 miles on it from a retired military man that gave it to his daughter to drive for college. They always serviced it at the Cadillac dealer, pretty religiously with all of the records. The engine light came on at some point, cannot get it to stay off. Found it to be p0770.
Had to get the air bags repacked on a recall. Seems like a great car with the Toyota engine, even though not exactly a fancy car it has already taken us on multiple appx 2000+ mile trips in this short amount of time (instead of renting cars each time like I had been doing). The first few years only one trip per year. This year we have to do this 3-4 times taking the dog to the University of Missouri for a cancer treatment trial. Nervous about the next trip coming up at the end of September with this shift solenoid issue going on. You can feel the car shifting, or needing to shift, like it gets stuck and just stays where it was. Typically between 3rd to overdrive. You have to press the gas, or hit the OD button. Now driving it with the OD off.
The 2003 Pontiac Vibe has the p0770 code issue. However, it does have some shifting issues dealing with over drive. (different from the majority of posts about this code) I cannot find the part number to order this shift solenoid e for this error to replace it. Does anyone know what the shift solenoid e part number is to fix the p0770 code problem? I need to drive a couple thousand miles in just over a week from now. How can I find more information about this procedure, the part, where to order etc? I consider myself to have fantastic search skills, but I am not finding much on youtube or general searches. Can the part be interchanged with the Toyota Matrix part? What is the part number? I watch all of your videos. I have seen your Matrix, but haven't seen any videos related to this. Does anyone have links to any videos related to this for the Vibe or the Matrix? Thank you so much! You are the best! Heather
Well you have to drop the bottom of the transmission and take the valve body out to replace the shift solenoids if you want to go that far it's doable it's just on vaulting stuff a message job cuz it's full of fluid. But I would advise going to a Toyota dealer parts department and buying it there because they will sell you the correct part that will work and they can show you pictures on their computer that you can take a picture of with your phone of exactly where the solenoid is which one
