hi Scotty.  I bought a used 2004 Lexus es 330 with 100k for $4k. Runs and drives great. Did I get a good deal?  Also, the prior owner always used synthetic oil. Should I stick with synthetic or can I go back to a blend?

stop using the oil that was used previously. go to the dealer and ask for the service information and use the correct oem type oil fluid and put the correct quantity and use OEM filter only.

Do you think that the dealer is the best place to go. If this is the case, you are probably very special.

@albertedavison
from my experience using original always makes my car runs smoother and whatever new part you get oem you will immediately see the difference. just be careful when they give you the oil because sometimes they can give you a different model with a different serial number ,yet, the bottles look exactly the same. so just make sure they all have the same numbers wherever it has numbers, they must all match, also keep an eye on the oil color, as you pour it light up a flashlight you will be able to see the true color. as scotty has mentioned i have to stress that all bottles should be new and SEALED, if its broken lid even just a little bit exchange it for a new one, the oil will have already become corroded while sitting on a shelf with open lid, that is no longer good and can mess you up. never use cheap brands because sooner or later you WILL have an issue, you can not escape, then you would have to pay. never mix oils and you must use exact quantity of oil, you must get this information from the dealer, they can print you out a couple of copies

Use the synthetic oil since it was previously used by the previous owner.

You got an excellent deal. As for the oil, stick to the full synthetic.
