2004 Toyota Corolla - 46,000miles - UPS Delivery Car?

Hey Scotty!

Recently I've inherited a 2004 Toyota Corolla with 46,000 miles. I haven't had a car in over a decade (last was a 94 Tercel), and I couldn't be any happier, love the car! However, I've also recently started working as a seasonal delivery driver for UPS. I'm loading my car up with all sorts of garbage and starting and stopping it about 100 or more stops a day to deliver packages.

I've just been leaving my car in park while I stop to run out and drop off packages, rather than constantly turning the car on and off. Usually this goes on for about a two hour span before I stop and turn off my car to load it up with more packages. Is this bad for my engine/car? Am I better off turning the car off more frequently?

Can I do anything to help prevent destroying my suspension?

This job is seasonal and most likely only for 2 months. I don't want to ruin my car, anything else I can do to help maintain it?

Thanks!

2 months is nothing don't sweat it and for anyone wondering if you have to do multi stop like you mentioned just leaving the car on is the best thing you can do for deliveries and things like that. Starting and stopping too much is def not good for your car. Suspension should be fine. You'd have to weight a car down over a long period of time with a lot of weight to blow it out quickly like that.

Ok great, I need the job but didn't want to destroy this new car that I love, didn't know what to do...That's definitely reassuring, greatly appreciated, thanks so much!

np gl with your holiday deliveries : )

No problem, just overheat in summer, and some crook jumping in and stealing it. Keep eye on front constant velocity joint boots for bellows rip sling grease ruin joints. No good cure for overload except air shocks spring work.

Funny you should mention crooks, my heart nearly stopped earlier today when i heard an identical sounding corolla fly past my parked corolla while I was on somebodies door step lol. cjbman mentioned the air shock springs as well, i'm gonna give them a try if it doesn't seem like too difficult a job to do myself. Thanks!

Good luck in that job, be careful!

Likely nothing you can do for your poor suspension. I have had some luck out of using spring spacers like these in other cars... you put this in between the coils in the spring to help it from bottoming out.

@cjbman
Thanks! I'm gonna see how hard these are to put in, if it's not too bad i'll be putting these in on my next day off, appreciate it!
