I drive a 2005 Passat Wagon 1.8t.
So I drive for Domino's, which understandably puts a strain on the car. Took 3 deliveries one morning this week and went to get back in, nothing. Wouldn't start, and hasn't since. No idea what it could be, my ignition fuse under the hood was blown(40 amp) so I replaced it. All the fuses in the side panel seem to be good, and I don't really know how to test the relays under the wheel. Sat under the starter when someone else turned the key, I'm hearing nothing from the starter at all. I'm now suspecting a ground issue somewhere because that's what other forums are saying.
Any help is really appreciated, I need this car for my job.
check your battery charge and if its fine, take off the cables and clean the terminals and cable ends and reinstall them. does it start if you try to jump start it?
I tested the battery, battery is fine. Terminals clean. It's something on the starter end I think, or between the battery and the starter.
While someone holds the key to the start position, go under the car and tap on the starter motor with a hammer. If it turns over, you need a new starter. If it doesn't, check the starter relay, ignition switch, etc.
