I'd rather not deal with a dealership given how much more it could be but it looks like this might be a decent option. It has 5 previous owners, zero previous accidents, a carfax vehicle history and it looks like there was a lien or loan issue and i changed hands from the previous owner. They are asking almost $5900 which seems excessive especially with the kbb suggested value being between $3550-$4800 for fair.

I did get a cash settlement for roughly $5000 for a hit and run insurance settlement. My previous car was a 2008 corolla s with about 190k miles. I really enjoyed the car despite it having been in a couple accidents towards the end of its life. If anyone has any potential negotiation tactics i might be able to use please feel free to share them. Looking for a daily driver that's going to last.

If this might not be a great option what cars for roughly $5000 ideally with a manual transmission would you recommend. Really appreciate the youtube channel and the forum you are really doing a service in a time where car maintenance isn't something a lot of people really have a clue about. Especially with newer cars having all these expensive and costly to replace parts like the electronic ebrake on one of your previous videos.

Still it is a lot for that car, specially with the manual. Look around and find another car. There are plenty of them.

Drive up to Detroit.  You can find 2010 Corolla's with 100k miles for that price.

2005 Corolla S 1.8L 5-speed manual, lowest price Corolla in 05, entry level basic transportation, very few/no frills. Put the thing on a lift and check for body and frame rust/corrosion, if any noted walk away. Get it checked mechanically !

Assuming that vehicle is currently smog certified, registered, clear title, current dealer retail pricing about $2,800.00, private party sell is in the $1,400.00 - $1,700.00 range. Our dealership doesn't handle vehicles of that age, miles, and very limited interest/demand, they're just to hard to move.

The dealer price you mentioned seems extremely high for that vehicle.

Forget the KBB figures, Edmunds may be a little more realistic. Prices vary by region.

And always remember, any vehicle is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Good luck.
