Shaking at idle

2006 Ford fusion

got my transmission checked out and seems fine, car only has around 11700 miles on it. But it’s shaking at Idle and while going, no codes popped up, no engine check lights, well the coil packs the screw was over tighten breaking the little gold insert peace, fixed that up so it sticks, also new spark plugs too. I thought maybe it’s a idle control valve, throttle position sensor or body? (Still no codes as far to my knowledge and no lights on my dash)  It revs and kicks while I speed up before going down to a regular RPM, it does seem to shake more when ACIe blowing, my fluids are fine, not seeing signs of oil burning. Checked the mounts…all seem too be okay! 3 people doubled check the mounts and they say it’s good and big O tires gave me a large 3,000 list of problems that well aren’t problems after getting it looked at.  Not sure what could be the problem now? Could it be air filter? Not sure at this point any ideas?

Sounds like the transmission is slipping pretty bad. The shaking in idle sounds like a transmission shudder, especially if you include  the other issues you described

Did you check you trans fluid level and condition of fluid

Yeah, transmission doesn’t seem to have any issues, fluid is good, good condition had a mechanic friend check that out.

Do you have a scan tool? Does it has full system/all module scan? If it does run a full system scan it will tell you alot more then a regular generic scan?  Can you give us any live data info such as fuel trims .

Was a compression  , head gasket  test done . Was the Fuel system pressure tested?

When the mechanic looked at the transmission did he check out the valve body and conductor plate?

So far what has been checked in car and what test have been done.

So I took it in, and they do think it’s the transmission, but more or less think a good start to try a new transmission filter and fluid change to see if that helps, they fixed the coil packs as well. Car has only 11700 miles not sure if I should start with fluid they said it was dirty, or if I should take it into a transmission repair shop as look further into diagnostics on it. AC got charged and they saw no leaks either .

Are you the original owner of this vehicle? That mileage seems suspect.

No not the original owner it’s 11700 miles, no engine rebuilds, checked the transmission no signs of transmission problems.

Even tho it has low mileage fluids still break down over time. Since you only have a vibration and no clunking, banging or slipping whatever is probably just starting  just starting. Old fluid can very well be that cause. I would change it and the filter and see what happens.

Okay! Thank you!

I watched the video about changing the fluid, would it be a good risk to take though?

Since it has under 12,000 original miles you should be fine. I highly doubt it will start slipping, just  drain and save old fluid in clean containers. If it starts slipping  drain new fluid and add the old fluid back. New fluid causing issues happens because the transmission has wear, is starting to wear and was neglected.  Remember to use the proper fluid and to get a new gasket since you will be replacing filter. Any time you service a transmission and it involves removing the pan, the gasket should be replaced especially if they are old. Do not overfill the transmission that can cause a lot of damage. You will be able to tell your transmissions health by looking at the bottom of the pan when removed. You will have a little clutch material, what you don't want to see is any thing that is swirly and shiny. That would be metal.

It’s 117,000 miles on it, I’ll call and ask if they saw any shiny material In there. I just ain’t sure if the owners kept up with changing the fluid and stuff. I saw they kept up with the oil changes though. But when I got it it needed new tires (never been bought) I also read that the 2006 Fusion transmissions had problems and was going out on some people before 100 thousand miles, some going out around 68 thousand. I wondered as well if it could be the fuel system or air control system causing the jerk or revving.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, lots going on. I've found over the years people almost never do transmission or diff fluids like they should.  .Some maintenance items just get over looked or aren't done because of terminology or misunderstandings. Fuel or evap is a possibility

You need to find a good mechanic with a Fancy scan tool who knows what there doing if it isn't the transmission.  That would be your best bet.
