Car dies when stopping

2006 Subaru Baja

My Baja dies while at stop lights/signs. I have changed my fuel pump, ran fuel injector cleaner through, spark plugs have been changed within the last year.  I cleaned the idle air control. Air filter is good.  I am picking up pcv valve in the morning.  Timing belt, water pump, transmission fluid drained and refilled, valves replaced within the last year. I am feeling a little crazy. I just need my car to get me from place to place!

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Amee Brennan

Have you checked codes and live data? Cleaned the throttle body and MAF sensor? Checked for vacuum leaks?

Hey there. There are no codes when it dies. Just have to put it in park and restart it. No vacuum leak, cleaned the throttle body and checked the MAF sensor.

What does your live data look like when the problem happens?

I don't have live data capability. Can I get one from autozone or somewhere else? I have a check engine light checker.

The car is completely dead when the problem happens. No lights, no engine, nothing.

Are you sure? All but the most basic, low-end scan tools can record and display live data.

Ok. I will check it out. I just hope there will be "live" data when it is dead!!!

What you want to do is record live data as the problem occurs so you can play it back afterwards to see what was going on when the engine died.

How old is your battery? You might want to load-test your battery and alternator.

Battery and alternator are about 2 years old. I can check the load test. Thanks for your help. I will work on it after work tomorrow.

Another thing to check is your IAC valve, make sure that's working OK. (I wasn't sure if a 2006 Subaru would have an IAC valve, but it looks like that the last year for it.)
