How old is thermostat?

@nick20s
Good point! If the thermostat is stuck closed the engine will overheat even if the fans are working.

@nick20s
About 4 months old (400 miles) . I had the Engine replaced because of a blown head gasket

Check to make sure the cooling fans on the radiator are working.

Open the hood, start the van, and turn on the AC. The electric fans should turn on when the air conditioner turns on.

If it works then the "engine temperature sensor" that controls the cooling fans might be bad. It typically looks like a spark plug and screws into the engine block.

@rallyfoz
I'll check on this first thing in the morning and post if the fans are working. I have a obd2 scanner and the van has no codes. Thanks

@rallyfoz
Both fans come on. I'm checking the engine temperature sensor today

Check the fuel trims. Lean conditions can cause the cats to get very hot.

@lol_why
What is considered lean? Any idea where it should be at? Obd2 doesn't say if it's lean

Check the air/fuel ratio sensor readings, not the O2 sensor reading.
Good readings should be around -/+ 5%. Anything more than 10-15% you should look into it.

The numbers were a little high but not over 10. The check engine light came on and now shows p0037. I cleared it and it came back within 5 minutes. I hoping this is it. Any comments or questions is still appreciated. Thanks again
