I have a 2007 Dodge Caravan SE with the 3.3 Flex-Fuel engine. It died out and wouldn't start back up. I was low on fuel, so I added fuel. Still won't start. I have changed the fuel pump, air filter (the filter looked like it had been chewed up), cam and crank position sensors. It still won't start. If I spray carb cleaner or starter fluid in the intake, I get about 30 seconds max of engine run time before it sputters and dies back out. The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump and I don't believe there is another filter outside the tank. What else should I check?
Thumps is 100% on.
You have spark.
You have air.
You need fuel.
If what thumpy suggested doesn’t work, pull the fuel line off at the tank. Energize the fuel pump. Gas should come out the tank line. If not…the pump or the pickup is bad assuming the relay is good. To eliminate this, simply jump the relay with a switch…..or replace the relay….they are cheap. If fuel flowed from the line leaving the tank then follow the fuel lines from the tank to the motor. If its a straight shot to the fuel rail, disconnect the line at the rail..leave it disconnected at the tank. Blow back through the line with compressed air. Have a container under the line at the tank. It is possible the bad pump sent trash into the line.
@thumpy @efigalaxie both you gentlemen need to post ‘Answers’ down below..
Done, I slept like 13 hours straight last night. Doin better this morning.
Glad you caught up on your sleep.
First thing to check is see if the fuel injectors are being pulsed you can get a simple noise light and test them I have videos on that if it isn't flashing you have an electronic or computer failure problem if fuel injection system does not work spraying it in will make it run. If it does that that shows that the ignition system isn't a problem and that works okay so you definitely have a fuel problem and if you're getting fuel to the injectors but they're not pulsed it will not run by itself
Sometimes when you run engines out of fuel and get air in the line you have to prime the line. Find a tire valve looking thing on the fuel rail. Use a screw/car key/small screwdriver to hold it open while someone turns the key to the run position. (Don't start it) Have them repeat it 4-5 times until you get fuel. If your not then your fuel pump isn't kicking in. Need to check fuse/relay etc... Clean up/dilute any spilt fuel with non flammable brake cleaner.
