Hi Scotty!

I've been watching your videos for a while.

Car information: 2007 Lexus LS460, 260,000 mileage, bought from eBay Motor in 2019.

My car ran well without any warning light until early 2022 when I jump-started my battery and warning lights of ABS and brake popped up. I just left there for half a year and keep on driving.

Then after 6 months or so, once a time I stopped my car in front of the traffic light and shifted the gear from P to D twice, the car started to be abnormally unable to speed up to 50 mph. I used the OBD II diagnosis device, and it says the engine code P0985 error: Shift Solenoid “E” Control Circuit.

I have already replaced the ECM, and a new battery and the lights and issues are still there. Thus, I guess it is a problem of solenoid or wiring for speedup failure or caused by ABS and brake lights there.

If I want to repair by myself, which tools do I need to get it done at home?

Thanks a million, Scotty!!!

What tools you need depends on what your diagnosis finds. The parts cannon approach rarely works.

Today I've got a new engine code P0304.

Combining all these issues together, my questions are:

1- Can you guess what caused the ABS/Braking lights?

2- What caused the P0985? I have already replaced the ECM

3- why now I have a new code P0304?

Thank you.

1. Typically caused by a wheel sensor problem.

2. See the previously mentioned engine-codes.com writeup on that code. Replacing the ECM was premature without further diagnosis and obviously did not work.

3. Your engine is misfiring on the #4 cylinder. This can be caused by anything that affects combustion and is not related to the other problems.

Taken in total, you have 16-year-old high-mileage luxury car and its systems are breaking down.
