Hey Scott,

I'm a huge fan, the whole family is! Thank you for the great YT videos and this forum.

I'm looking to purchase a 2007 Toyota Avalon XL with 210K miles. I watched your YT video which you talked about Avalons (YT title: Never Buy a Toyota With This Problem). Great video and tips. I followed your tips and the car drives great! The body has some minor scratches here and there but otherwise looks decent. The price is 5K. I read on average if the vehicle wasn't taken good care of they average about 200K miles. The current owner shared with me the rear and front struts will need be be replaced in a year.

Would you have any concerns with a 2007 Avalon with 2007 miles and needs front/rear struts in a year or so?

Thanks in advance!

Won't recommend it as daily driving or project car. I know it is a toyota but it has to many miles on it and it is to much for asking price.

If he half the price around $2500 to $3000 I say go for it. But even after that, take the car to mechanic get it inspected and test driven both on highway and road before making the purchase

Hey thanks for the reply. Yea the mileage concerns me. I took it out for a test drive on road and highways even got it up to 80. The car drove smooth & great acceleration. I didn't hear any knocking or odd sounds. ... its the mileage and cost (mileage + low XL model with cloth seats). New set of tires on the car and hood struts recently replaced. If the car didn't perform so great I wouldn't even consider it with such high mileage. Thank you for your input, I do feel it's price high.

See if you can find a used lexus es 300 or 330 to compare it to. I have have the es330, 80k, 2006. I love it! Paid $4500. However the avalon has a timing chain and not a timing belt like the Lexus. The chain typically never needs to be replaced but the belt is good for around 100K, then they should be replaced along with the water pump.
