Should I buy this 2007 Toyota Camry?

I’m looking at a 2007 Camry 5 speed with 188k miles, for $4500.

I have heard that some have oil burning problems. But I think that with 188k they would have fixed it, or it would probably never did. Am I right?

Not necessarily. As long as the oil is kept topped up they can run for a long time. The 2007 Camry with 4-cylinder 2AZ-FE engine is in the range of affected models. It's possible the defect was corrected under warranty (there was a service campaign) but you'd want proof that was done.

Not necessarily you can check the plugs for oil fouling or check the tail pipe for excessive signs of oil.

True, though a sneaky seller could clean that stuff up in an attempt to hide the problem.
