2007 Toyota Matrix
In the winter there was a night that was icy. I was stopped and waiting to turn left. When I turned onto the road I slid sideways and hit the curb with my passenger tire. It actually hit the side of the wheel not the tire directly. It noticeably messed up my alignment. I replaced the whole suspension aside from control arms. The rack and pinion is also original. My question is that after this has happened I cannot get my toe correct. I can turn it all the way until the tie rod nut has nowhere else to go and it still is not right. The tires are both toed in too much. The control arms are not bent. The rack and pinion is not leaking or making any strange noises. Do you think that the rack and pinion could have been bent in the middle and I just can not see that? Is there any other suggestions on what this could be? I would appreciate any help or suggestions. This has been driving me crazy since this has happened. I love this car and I would like to keep driving it but I do not want to drive it the way it is.
Mounting points for suspension and steering components may have been bent.
a bunch of things could be bent. spindles, steering linkage/rack, struts+mounts, even the vehicle chassis.
Take it to a frame straightening shop.
