2008 Chevy Trailblazer ABS sensor

Hi,

2008 Trailblazer, 178,000 miles, and when stopping, as I near a complete stop (say as I get below 5 mph) the ABS system starts pulsing, like it thinks the ABS needs to be engaged.  Most internet research on this showed that the sensors, which are on hubs, get rust under the mating surface, which lifts them up and changes the output from these Hall effect type sensors.

I took the sensors out and cleaned the surface, one had no rust at all (new hub maybe 2 years ago), but the other had a little rust, which I wire brushed than sanded clean.  It wasn't a lot, but I cleaned it up and re-installed the sensors.

System still pulses right as I come to a stop (as before, like below 5 mph).  Any thoughts as to sensor failure vs. hub / rotor out of round causing it?  No codes on engine from my cheap scanner, but the ABS light will go on sometimes, but not always.  My scanner does not read ABS codes.  Old hub does not have any play or feel bad, no bearing noise or anything, so it seems like it is operating fine.

The cheapest way is to check the speed sensors on the wheels but you need a higher level scan tool. Have a mechanic check the code and also the sensor readings. If they were checked out fine, then your ABS module seems to be checked.
