My son is looking at a 2008 Porche Cayenne with 70k miles. How is the reliability when they age.
If you are not going to “pay to play” then forget about it. Even as an occasional weekend toy, they can get pretty expensive in terms of maintenance and repairs, especially if you don’t do any of the work yourself and have to pay someone else to do all the work. There is no such thing as a cheap, reliable German vehicle. It will cost you one way or another.
They require alot of attention. It could be okay as a weekend toy.
I heard that a brake job on one of the newer Porches costs $10,000

Why so much?
because Porsche. Oh my bad, it's $11k just for rotors. You want pads too? That's another $29k

Scotty did make a video about the Porsche Cayenne S and he was pretty impressed with it. They can be decent cars, however, they are Porsches and parts, repairs, and maintenance can get very expensive. If you have the money and you maintain it well, it can last quite some time as I have seen them go 300k miles+ and still run pretty strong, but make sure you do have a mechanic check it out and make sure everything is good and don't overpay since they don't hold their value as well as a Cayman/Boxster or a 911.
Good cars, but the maintenance isn't cheap.
I talked my son in getting a 2012 Lexus RS-350 instead. It has 111k on it. He was worried about the high miles.
if he looks after it well, the Lexus should keep going for a long time.
