I have a 2009 Dodge Caliber r/t with code p2017

I replaced the intake manifold and runner control valve but to no avail. I disconnected the battery over night and it seemed to run fine for a while but then is went back into “limp mode” like only a couple of cylinders were working and the engine was shaking. I can’t be the only one that’s having or had this problem PLZ HELP

Some possible ideas here:

So you think I should go with an oem runner control?

If you installed a cheap Chinese knockoff that's probably a good idea. Though as mentioned in the video other possibilities include the moving parts inside the manifold being jammed up or wiring problems, in which case using the OEM part would not help.

I replaced the manifold so that should be fine. Do you think a duralast one would do the job?

No idea what the quality is on those. For such critical parts OEM is usually best. (I could see especially if it's a plastic intake manifold for example if it twists a bit on installation the parts inside might jam up.) However I'm speaking in general terms since I have not worked on one of those engines.

I ended up finding an oem runner control and I was able to delete the code and it didn’t come back so that’s good but now I’m dealing with a misfires on multiple cylinders code you give me some tips to diagnose

Is that P0300? That can be difficult to track down but there are lots of tips out there.

It’s really bad I start it and it idles decent for about ten seconds then goes into fail safe mode and the engine shakes like crazy and the check engine light starts to blink

Check engine light blinking means it's a potentially serious issue that can cause damage. How old are the spark plugs? What do they look like? Do you have sufficient fuel pressure? Are fuel injectors clogged?

You need to look beyond codes since they don't tell you everything. Aside from physically checking components you can capture live data for analysis. A compression check to verify basic internal engine condition would not be a bad idea.

Definitely go with an oem one first the computer parts very sensitive to electronic voltage and amperage differential so start there cuz if it's not that it would be there wiring or computer failure problem

You never said what engine you had.  If it's a hemi, check for failed hydraulic roller lifters and a bad cam shaft.

The Caliber is a compact car, I think it only came with 4-cylinder engines. The R/T would have Chrysler's "world" 2.4.

Thanks, @chucktobias. Didn't see that.
