My wife has a 2009 Honda CRV, auto tranny, 85,000 miles. When driving on a bumpy road it makes a clunking sound somewhere in the back half of the car. It sounds like something large and important is going to fall off the car. My mechanic can not find the problem. What’s up with this?
Thanks Scotty
Many times, the rubber grommet in the shock absorber eye wears out allowing metal to metal contact and making that clunking noise. Check your shock mounting points.
check the suspension. Also look for loose parts underneath (muffler, heat shield,…).
Good call, Yaser.
could be anything. Loose spare tire or jack ...
Worn stabilizer bar bushings will make a dull thumping sound.
Try rocking the stabilizer bar without jacking up the car.
Probably worth changing if there is any movement.
