Hey Scotty i have a question for you. I have a 2010 dodge charger rt with a 5.7L Hemi. I got it about 3 weeks ago and i took it to firestone to get the oil changed. And they did it but when they went to change out the coolant it was/is a kinda coffee creamer or chocolate milk color. And im trying to figure out what is going on. Everyone is telling me a few things
1. Take it to a private mechanic
2. Take it to the dealer
3. Run the car until it dies
And i wanna do right by this car. I dont want it to be one of those cars that just never gets fixed. The car has 145,000 miles on it. And i just started a new job so i cant pay people a bunch of money. What in your expert opinion should i do?
When was the last time your coolant was changed? Although it has 145,000 miles, it's a 2010. Coolant should be changed at a maximum every 4 years to ensure nothing gets corroded. Coolant gets old over time and will turn into that chocolate milk color. Most likely there is no oil dilution at all...just some really old coolant that needs to be flushed out properly. I would also suggest changing the radiator out as well because of how bad the coolant got.
Now if the coolant was changed recently like a year or two before, then I would be concerned with a cracked head.
