2010 Pontiac Vibe gt clunks & vibrates when going over bumps

Hey scotty, I have a 2010 pontiac vibe gt. I recently had the factory strut brace replaced with a aftermarket strut brace. The next day my car has had a clunking noise from the front passenger side when going over bumps and regular travel speeds, if I hit a slight bump there's the clunking sound, it seems to clunk really fast like 3 clunks in a row when hitting bumps. The mechanic told me the front struts were bad, I got the complete strut assembly like they told me to, and it does the same thing. I took it to another mechanic who told me the passenger lower control  arm bushing was broken. I bought the lower control arm had it put on, the car still clunks. Now they are saying the passenger cv axle has a little bit of play in it. I don't want to keep spending money on parts I don't need. I've already spend almost a grand. The way the clunk sound...it sounds like something is loose. Oh..and after hitting the bumps after the vibrating clunks the passenger front kinda vibrates for maybe 3 seconds. What could possibly be the problem???

You need to find a reputed front end shop to diagnose what’s going on. Don’t replace any more parts until the entire suspension is load tested & the noise reproduced.

You can also try your own investigative work using this -

Thanks for the reply. I went to a frame and suspension shop today and was told the car has been in a accident, and the frame of the front end is the problem. I bought this car used and the dealer didn't tell me that. I would never buy a car that has been wrecked. I went to autocheck, and low and behold, it says frame and structure damage reported in april of 2019. So I've contacted a lawyer for this.

What a bunch of crooks. All the best.

The dealer should have told you that it had been in an accident, definitely take legal action to compensate your losses because wrecked cars are basically worthless. Sorry, not worth to fix the frame on a wrecked 10 year old Corolla (Matrix, Auris, Vibe, whatever you want to call it).

What you should do IMO, is 1. stop putting money into it and 2. continue with legal action

I wish you the best of luck
