My truck has a aftermarket stereo installed and everything was working fine, last night I went to start the truck and it turned on and then died out, it did this multiple times and now it will not crank or anything and the security lock light is solid on the dash. How can I fix this? Is there a way to disable this so I can drive the truck? I did not see any check engine lights with the obd2.
The security system in your car won't detect your key and stays active. Try another key if you have.
If you have a spare key, try that one. If it works then likely the transponder in the other key is kaput. If the spare key still doesn't work then from what I found, it's likely the sensor in the ignition switch is getting weak and having trouble reading the transponder in your key(s). Do a youtube search: 2011 silverado security passlock, lot's there. Apparently it's something that's been a common occurrence for many different generations (passkey & passlock). Hope this helps
