2013 Sentra CVT Failure

Hello, one of my friends is unfortunately having an issue with the CVT in her 2013 Sentra, in typical CVT fashion of course. It currently has exactly 90,000 miles and a shop quoted her $4500 to get a whole new transmission. They also said they wouldn’t be able to put in a rebuilt transmission, it would have to be new one. The shops reasoning for this was because of the “error codes and stuff.” It sounds a bit fishy to me. The transmission was slipping and jerking so I’m not even sure if the entire transmission needs to be replaced? I don’t know let me know your guys’ thought on this it would be very much appreciated and helpful, thank you.

I'd rather spend 4500 on a more reliable car like anything Toyota or Honda than the transmission itself. It's not really worth replacing.

What do you think about that fix though? Cuz not being able to put a rebuilt in it sounds a little weird especially the way the explained it. Plus transmission slipping doesn’t really sound like it should call for a whole replacement of the transmission

Just an excuse as they don't want to trouble themselves with a re-manufactured transmission.

A lot of transmission shops have started working on CVTs but this Nissan has a known weak transmission. Sadly, it's no stretch to conclude it's already shot at 90K miles. Do you really want to put $4500 more in this car?
