That transmission must have been seriously abused and/or not maintained at all.

I have had good luck with used transmissions over the years but I've always installed them myself. If you have to pay a mechanic not only are you gambling with the money you paid for the transmission but the labor cost of installing it. If the junkyard trans is bad you're out all that coin and still have an unusable car.

If a factory rebuilt transmission is cost-prohibitive it would be better to shop for another vehicle.

Hi. Please put a specific description of your problem in the title, not your car. Thanks.

Labor should be closer to $1,200 unless you got a friend doing it for $600.  So i question if they do a good job.

I advise against buying used transmissions from ebay or junkyard if you're paying someone to do the job. Not worth it unless you're doing it yourself.

LKQ is the way to go but will cost more.  Buy with low miles and add a warranty.  LKQ tests the parts and they honor their warranties if the part is defect.

will the shop not happy. lie to u say or install incorrect. used transmission from LKQ.not working just making the labor $ not whole transmision.

used transmissions will just have bad torque converters.

Try the dealer first. They might replace it for free.

Otherwise, get a reputable remanufactured unit professionally installed, or a different car. It's not the best year.

Get a new car. I wonder why it would go out so soon on a Camry. Do you maintain it as required? Do you experience issues?

no but 173k miles now how long it can last?

It depends how have you maintained it so far.

yes change very 50k miles. didnt drive hard. shift good. but torque converter problem 1/20 around 30mph.
2012-2014 camry torque converter. just curius how long it can last 250-300k miles? also burn 1000ml 1000 miles. when use 0w-20. when use 5w-30 burn 600ml per 1000 miles. change every 5000 miles oil cchange ontime.
