2014 impala 2.5 ecotec vs 3.6

I’m looking at buying one of the 2 at a dealer. The 2.5 has 63k miles and the 3.6 gas 150k. Which one will i be better off getting? The 2.5 is 18k and the 3.6 is 11k. I want something with low miles, are the 2.5 engines as trusty as the 3.6?

I have never been one to limit myself to buying a car that is close to me. Only two of the cars I have bought were in the town I lived in, and one was because it was the first car I ever bought.

If I find a car with a good price, I talk to the owner, feel him out, check maintenance records, and if everything checks out, I rent a car, drive there, check it out on site, and drive it home. If it were not up to what I expected, I would drive the rental right back home. You could also fly of course. My last car I bought, my friend drove me and I payed him for his time, which was about a three hour drive I think.

I have never had to turn around and go home without the car I expected, and I have never had a bad experience.

I get better cars, and much cheaper by doing it that way. Some areas, as you know, can be really expensive to buy in. I have traveled 500 miles one way to get a car I wanted, and save a ton doing it, even if it cost me a bit to travel there, and possibly a hotel.

I suggest being willing to travel a ways, get out of the overpriced area you are in.

better than private sellers

you can negotiate quickly with private sellers. At the dealership you'll be sitting in their office playing their stupid game all afternoon

Everything is firm on price If I buy it on marketplace where I live. Must just be here since no one else has the issue

I’m wondering if you have any opinions on the car Itself with the 2.5 eco tec

absolutely not. 18k is almost the price of a brand new Corolla

I understand but like, is the engine and transmission good on the 10th gen with the eco Tec?

a car isn't just an engine and transmission. The WHOLE thing needs to work. I would not buy a small car from GM. The stuff they make now is junk, and provides terrible value for your money. Spend a little more on a bulletproof Toyota. You'll be glad you did.

Id look at something else. That's alot of money for a 9 year old car that doesn't have a great reputation.

In your case, Id go with the 4 cylinder. its a weaker engine, wont burn out the transmission as quickly. But 18k is way too much. Like, even half that is too much imo. Also, avoid used car lots. Theyre way over priced.

I agree that used car lots are overpriced, but they are better than private sellers where I live.

GM was never great with small engines. Id take a Toyota 4 cyl over an eco tec all day. Trans are sub just meh. Electronics are weak on them too. Seriously look at something else.
