I’m looking to buy a 2014 Mazda 3 S grand touring. It has 92,000 miles on it. It has an automatic transmission. And it’s at a dealer. They are asking $14,000 for it. What do you guys think? Will it be a good car?

Being sold by a dealer is a red flag. The outrageous price is even more of a strike against it, thousands of dollars above even Kelly Blue Book's inflated prices.

Overpriced, It's worth $10k-$11k at best.

The Mazda3 used to start at around $17k in 2014, paying $14k for that sounds pretty awful.

although the top trims are always super overpriced in these, they don't add much to the value.

Dealers are the worst.

They sell overpriced junk, and are masters at hiding issues from you.

$14,000

For that price you should be able to find a newer car with less millage.

In that price bracket look for something like a 6-7 year old Camry, preferably with around 60k-70k miles.

(but not the older Camry 2012-2014 4cyl models - those had tranny issues)

Ask to pay for the vehicle at $11k, cash. If the dealer wants a higher price than that and ask for maybe $12,500 for example, then demand a price for $11,500. I'm not really that good at negotiating at the moment but I'm doing my best to help you out get a lower price on that vehicle. Anyways, if the dealer doesn't want to give you the car at least at $12k, walk away! There'd may be a chance that the dealer would get your attention to let you have that particular vehicle in that price range you would want it to have. My grandfather had done similar with some vehicles that he'd paid for, and so has one of my friends as well. It may not be easy negotiating, but I'd say it's the best you can do if you want that vehicle at a decent price.
