Hey Scotty!
I got a question for ya, I have a 2014 Ford Mustang v6 automatic transmission and I am getting a rear end squeak every time the car rolls over small bumps (not over deep bumps). I notice the squeaking when I turn the car and every time I jack up the car from the rear diff as well. The car was lowered and I changed the LCA with new stocks ones but still no success. Is it because I didn’t torque the bolts when the suspension was loaded to 130 foot pounds? I need your help. Thank you!
@tom_r
Just noticed you said that about loading up the suspension before tightening. That is a common issue on some mazdas but I haven't ever heard of it on a ford... maybe someone else has something to say? I do believe the pre loading has to do with how the sway bar interacts with the suspension but I'm not 100%.
Makes me think it has to do with a sway bar when you said it does it while turning as well and going over small bumps. You can put a little bit of grease on the bushing where the bar passes through and sometimes its as simple as that. Also just go under there and try to tighten every nut and bolt you see. Sometimes after a modification or fix things will vibrate loose again and cause popping and squeaking as the suspension travels.
@cjbman
Thank you! I’ll give it a try. What grease do you recommend? These are all rubber bushings. Also, I just put a new sway bar in but didn’t grease the rubber Bc I heard it supposed to stay dry?
I use white lithium spray grease when I'm doing stuff like that because it's accessible. Just make sure whatever you are using isn't mineral oil based because it will degrade rubber.
