Does my new MAF need to be programmed?

2014 Nissan Pathfinder

I believe the transmission is again failing on this vehicle, however my local dealership said the MAF was bad. So we bought a new one, which has a Nissan code on the package, and popped it in. The car is still bucking like a bronco and idling rough. NOW the dealership states ONLY a nissan dealership MAF will work on the car and they will not run a diagnostic on the transmission. (We are 2 weeks from the tranny warranty being up). SO do I need a code or will popping in the new MAF work? It is in but again no performance improvement. Thank you!

Stay away from the dealership. Take the car to a good independent mechanic instead.

You don't have to buy a s MAF sensor from the dealer but you do need to buy/use an OEM sensor.

MAF sensors are "plug and play" (install and use)

If the transmission is still under warranty, you need to make sure you have proof of what is going on. Emails are a good way, include all pertinent information.

As @hixster said, get an oem maf and get it to a good local shop.

A misfire can make it feel like the transmission is bucking, hopefully it is just that. The transmission would not make the car run rough at idle.
